Knife, Wallet, Handcuffs: Just Another Week in Piccadilly Gardens |
||
|
Officers from the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Team have had a productive start to the week, with proactive patrols on Monday and Tuesday resulting in the arrest and subsequent charging of two offenders for serious offences. On Monday, PC Zamecnik responded swiftly to reports of a disturbance at a well-known food establishment in the city centre, where a knife had been brandished. Remaining calm and composed throughout the incident, PC Zamecnik quickly assessed the situation, located the weapon, and arrested the male adult responsible. His experience and disciplined approach were instrumental in bringing the incident to a safe conclusion. The offender has since been charged with two public order offences and possession of a bladed article. The team's momentum continued on Tuesday when officers responded to a robbery in which a member of the public had their wallet stolen. Working closely with CCTV operators, PC Cross and PC Marothi rapidly identified and located the suspect nearby. Thanks to their prompt actions, the stolen wallet was recovered and returned to its rightful owner. The male adult offender has since been charged with robbery and remanded into custody. Sergeant Wyatt praised the efforts of the officers involved, saying: "These incidents demonstrate exactly why visible neighbourhood policing is so important. The professionalism, teamwork and quick-thinking shown by our officers this week have helped keep the public safe and ensured offenders have been brought before the courts. I am extremely proud of the work carried out by PC Zamecnik, PC Cross and PC Marothi, whose actions delivered excellent results for the community we serve." The Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Team remains committed to tackling crime, supporting victims, and maintaining a visible presence in the heart of Manchester.
